Artificial Breeding
The Camel Breeding Centre (Artificial Insemination Unit) participates in artificial insemination projects through the following activities:-
  • Advising on the selection of suitable camel bulls based on genetical merits.
  • Supervision of health of donor bulls
  • Supervision of semen collection, assessment and dilution from donor bulls
  • Freezing and proper storage of collected semen
  • Advising against insemination by unfit bulls
  • Documentation of data on donor bulls and their semen
  • Recording of insemination processes that take place within the centre
  • Follow up on the new born camel calves to authenticate siring bull pedigree
  • Supervision of pregnant camel throughout pregnancy
  • Supervision and coordination with the concerned authorities for finding appropriate calving pens (stocks)
  • Suggestion of plans and programmes for insemination processes of camels belonging to citizens
  • Prevention of communicable sexual diseases in donor bulls
  • Participation in studies and researches on artificial insemination
