Genetic Transformation
The Camel Breeding Centre (Embryo Transfer Unit) participates in genetical improvement through the following activities:-
  • Advising on trading of camels with superior genetical merits.
  • Supervision of superovulation, the process of impregnation, embryo collection and transfer of the harvested embryos to recipient camels
  • Freezing and storage of embryos for future impregnations
  • Computerised and manual recording of data pertaining to trading of inseminating donor bulls and characteristics of the sperms used
  • Follow up of the new born camel calves to authenticate pedigree of siring bulls
  • Supervision of pregnant camels throughout pregnancy.
  • Participation in studies and researches on embryo transfer
