Advantages and Disadvantages of Local or Traditional Treatment
The following points must be considered for evaluation of traditional treatments:-
-
The organic quality of the substance used;
-
The quantity of the substance used;
-
The circumstances under which the substances have been or will be used.
The organic quality of the substance used: Any substance used (e.g., fire, salt, sugar and plants) for remedies could be beneficial and safe, or harmful and poisonous to the camel.
The quantity of the substance used: Any remedial substance if given in larger or lesser doses than required, may prove adverse or ineffective
The circumstances under which the substances have been or will be used: If the substances used are applied under adverse conditions, the effect may be detrimental.
Taking into consideration the above conditions, traditional treatments currently used may be categorised as:
-
Treatment based on scientific and recognised medical principles;
-
Treatment proven useful but inexplicable by scientific justification or current knowledge; and,
-
Treatment proven to be harmful.
Remedial Burning Therapy should be used wisely for effectiveness:
-
Transformation of a chronic inflammation to the acute stage is admissible only if effective in curing the chronic inflammation. Otherwise, it may give rise to new ailments.
-
Correct amounts of remedial burning cause healing heat to seep through the layers of the skin. However, excessive use of burning may cause damage to the tissues underlying the skin.
-
Remedial burning maybe used to cause pain in a specific part of the body to inactivate it or reduce movement and to, therefore, expedite healing. E.g. in cases where inactivation of a broken arm is troublesome, it will heal faster if inactivated due to pain by burning.
-
Corrective burning therapy, though not the best method, maybe used to remove undesired tissues and parts of the body.
